Is avocado toast overrated?

As a foodie, I eat pretty much anything and everything. I've made a habit of not ruling out any meal after tasting it a few times.
When it comes to avocado toast, I have my ups and downs.
First of all, I think we have made a big deal of such a simple dish. I'm always saying: "What's the buzz? It's just a toast with mashed avocado." Also, it has been in the food industry for almost a century; people kind of just discovered them?
I have a theory though: Is it that it looks good on your Instagram feed? We'll see.
In some restaurants, especially in bistros or coffee shops, avocado toasts are bland and dull, to be honest.
Also, is it me or avocado toasts super expensive? I mean, like mentioned before, there is not much to them, so why the price fluctuates between $10-$22? My point is its mashed fruit on bread. If I'm going to pay that much on brunch, at least give me eggs benedict with avocado.
Furthermore, do you feel satisfied after eating an avocado toast? Are you full? Almost every time I end up still hungry.
Bad avocado
You know I'm always trying new places, and I try to go to every restaurant that my followers recommend, consequently, I went to a coffee shop/bistro like a year ago. I'm not going to mention names in specific, but I ordered the avocado toast with a soft boiled egg and ricotta cheese, and it was a disaster.
I have to clarify, I'm a bread addict, so I'm a big fan of toasts. This one though, I was so disappointed.
The avocado was unripe, which, it happens, I understand, but overall, the bread seemed old, the egg was hard, and on top of that, the service was unacceptable. Because of that experience, I stopped eating avocado toasts at any place for a few months.
Good Avocado
For those of you who love avocado toast and won't stop eating them even after reading this, I want to recommend you a place.
A while ago, I went to a vegan restaurant and had the best toast ever.
I'm going to mention this one since I want you guys to visit them.
Borivegan is a vegan restaurant, hence the name, with two locations. One in Santurce and another one in Guaynabo.

I went to lunch with a friend; we had the avocado toast and the bean salad wrap. Everything was terrific; the toast had hummus, sliced avocado, grated carrot, microgreens, and olive oil. For me, it is the best one in Puerto Rico.
Now, my favorite one so far wasn't here; it was in New York.
Bourke Street Bakery opened on 15th East 28th street a few months ago.
As I previously stated in an Instagram post, this bakery is an institution back in Australia, a culinary masterpiece.

Eating this was like having a naturally bland dish elevated to the highest level. It was perfect in every way. I don't know if it was the ingredients they chose, that go together so well or that the avocado was perfectly ripe, or the egg sous-vide to perfection, I know that I haven't tasted a better avocado toast since then.
My point is if you do love avocado toast I recommend you go to BoriVegan, if you are like me, having a love and hate relationship, avoid them unless you are sure it's going to be good or you're eating at Bourke Street Bakery.
